Cat Seagulls?

We recently found this beautiful anchorage on the island of Moni, in the Saronic Gulf.

It was a gorgeous and very peaceful place to spend a few days, and we were definitely in chill mode when we got there.

We arrived in the late afternoon and Mommy and Daddy cracked open a bottle of rose to enjoy the sunset (it's been known to happen...). As we laid back enjoying one of those moments you can only get cruising, we noticed a persistent sound coming from the island. It sounded sort of like a tortured meow from a really loud cat. Ryan wondered "what are those things, cat seagulls?!". We went to bed wondering what was on this little island causing all that racket.

Well, the next morning we found out. As we were sitting enjoying our morning coffee, Mara shouts "oh my gosh, peacocks!". The island was teeming with peacocks, and as is often the case, as soon as you see one, you can see tons of them. This time of the year is mating season, so we were able to see the peacocks strutting their stuff trying to find a peahen.

They spread their plumage, turn in circles, and shake their feathers.

It was pretty cool to see, and totally unexpected. And while we were all pretty fascinated by the peacocks, the peahens, on the other hand, just ignored them. :)
