Terrific Tobago Cays

We just spent a week in the Tobago Cays, and all I can say is WOW! I realize we've shared some beautiful places on this blog, but this one might be the most beautiful so far.

The Tobago Cays are a group of small islands protected behind a horseshoe shaped reef, basically in the middle of the Caribbean. The water is crystal clear, and full of turtles, eagle rays, stingrays, manta rays, and more.

Despite the beauty of the place -- and the turtles, more on that in another post -- the highlight was that a bunch of other family boats all congregated at this anchorage and the girls spent the week playing with their friends; swimming, snorkeling, exploring, baking, eating, etc. They did get some school in in the mornings, and actually having friends around was a great motivator for getting their work done in the morning so they could play in the afternoon.

It was a big group, and the week was pretty much chaos with kids swimming, paddling, motoring, sailing, or whatever mode of transport they could come up with between boats all afternoon long.

As you can see, Ryan is not having any fun.

Kenning, too:

We also feel incredibly lucky that while the rest of the world is grappling with the restrictions necessary due to the Omicron wave, we are safely outdoors and social distancing on our boats. Also, in order to get into St. Vincent & the Grenadines, everyone needs to be vaccinated and negative to get in. So it's been almost normal, with big meals on the beach and spending time with (new) friends.

I have anchored in the Tobago Cays twice and would agree that it pretty damn close to heaven on earth. Plus the boats that come out to deliver fresh french bread and BBQ buttered lobster for dinner.

Tobago Cays does look amazing! I don't think I've ever seen so many blonde-headed kids at one table before in my life. Adam, great job on the drone videos, it really shows the abrupt change between the aquamarine and the deep blue which looks like to just drops off outside the reef. That is so fun that you ran into a bunch of families doing the same thing you are. I'm, sure the kids had.a blast.
